Halloween Hikes through Ryerson Woods
A family favorite in Chicago, the Halloween Hikes event features a guided, hour-long group hike along a candlelit wooded path. There are several stops along the way to watch nature-themed skits, and donuts and cider at the end of the hike. Nothing is too scary, so even the little ones will enjoy this event.

Navy Pier’s One-Stop Halloween Celebration
Top Chicago visitor attraction Navy Pier is a huge Halloween destination. There are two haunted houses: “The Fear” for the bold and the brave, and “The Fear(less)” for younger kids or easily startled grownups. Other events include face painting, Zombie Hunt Shootout paintball, and trick-or-treating from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 26 & 27).
Saturday also brings a costume contest, and fireworks with a spooky soundtrack at 9:30 p.m.
Andersonville Dessert Crawl
Enjoy gourmet sweets at multiple stops in the most popular area restaurants on Sunday, October 27. Crawlers can choose from the Caramel Apple or Corn Candy trek, and tickets are $20 in advance, $25 the day of the event. Call 773-728-2995 for more information.
Seadog Haunted Tours
Discover the spooky side of Chicago as costumed guides lead you on an evening architectural tour through the city, pointing out the infamous massacres and supernatural events that have happened through history. The biggest Halloween party in Chicago, Daley Plaza is transformed into Franken Plaza from October 25 through the 27. Every day of the event, there’s a wide range of Halloween-themed shows and activities offered for all ages, from magic shows, arts & crafts, and sing-alongs to the spectacular Midnight Circus.
